How to Choose a Brand Designer in Pune

Compare brand designers by relevant work, process, deliverables and handoff. A practical shortlist checklist for founders and marketing teams in Pune.

Choosing a brand designer in Pune starts with the work your business needs to produce. A strong portfolio is useful, but the more revealing question is whether the designer can carry an idea from an initial direction into files and rules your team can use.

I’m Krushna Palwe, a senior visual designer based in Pune. My work spans software brand systems, fashion identity, websites and packaging. Here is a practical way to compare a shortlist, including my own portfolio, before you commission an identity.

Start with the problem you are hiring for

Write one sentence about what is changing. “We are launching our first product” leads to a different scope from “Our three products look like three different companies.” “Our social posts are inconsistent” may require templates and guidance rather than a replacement logo.

List the first three applications the identity must support. They might be a website, a sales deck and a product diagram; or a garment label, a shopping bag and a Shopify storefront. These applications give a designer something concrete to evaluate. They also help you compare proposals that otherwise use the same broad word: branding.

Look for decisions inside the case study

A polished mockup shows presentation quality. A useful case study also explains the brief, the designer’s role, the constraints and what was delivered. Look for a connection between the stated problem and the final design.

In my Datamotive case study, the relevant question is how several cloud products share a visual system while remaining distinguishable. In BLANKSY, it is how an identity carries through apparel and a storefront. Those are different problems, even though both involve a logo, colour and typography.

Ask to see a small-size logo, a text-heavy page and an ordinary team-produced asset. These are less dramatic than a launch mockup, but they reveal whether the identity will be workable after launch.

Compare the scope line by line

Use the same questions with each shortlisted designer:

  • Does the project start with discovery or use an existing approved brief?
  • Is naming included, or must the name be settled before design begins?
  • Which logo variations and application templates will be delivered?
  • How many design directions and review rounds are included?
  • Does “website” mean a visual concept, a design handoff or a working build?
  • Who prepares copy, photography and other content?
  • What files and usage guidance will your team receive?

A proposal with fewer deliverables may be the better fit if it solves your immediate problem. Compare the work and ownership involved, rather than counting pages in a guidelines PDF.

Ask how feedback and handoff will work

Choose a decision owner on your side. Gather comments into one response and explain them against the brief. “The audience needs to recognise this as technical software” gives a designer a problem to solve. “Make it more modern” leaves the decision undefined.

Before starting, agree on the review stages and what happens when scope changes. Ask about editable files, export formats, font and image licences, and where the final assets will be stored. A handoff should explain which file to use, not simply provide a large folder of versions.

Decide whether location matters to the project

A Pune-based designer may be convenient for local coordination and shared working hours. Confirm how reviews will actually happen instead of assuming that being in the same city includes office visits or on-site support. For remote work, agree on meeting windows, response expectations and a shared feedback location.

My Pune service overview explains my location, availability and relevant work. I work in IST and am available for remote collaboration; meeting arrangements and project timing are discussed with the brief.

A useful first conversation

Send your shortlist the same short brief: audience, business problem, existing assets, required applications, target launch date and budget range if you have one. Ask what they would clarify before quoting. Their questions tell you how they think about the work.

You can use my brand-design brief template to prepare it. For identity-only work, review the brand identity design service; if the website is part of the same launch, explore brand and web design.
