Figma Plugins That Are Actually Worth Installing

Most Figma plugin lists are long and untested. This one is short and specific. Every plugin here earns its place in a real workflow.

The Figma plugin community has grown to the point where the discovery problem is real. There are thousands of plugins and most lists recommend anything that is popular regardless of whether it is genuinely useful.

These are the ones that make a consistent difference in practice.

Workflow and Productivity

Rename It — Batch rename layers and frames using find and replace, sequential numbering, and layer data. Keeping layers named properly pays off constantly in handoff and component work.

Super Tidy — Aligns and distributes frames on the canvas automatically. Useful for organizing a messy file before a review or a handoff. Runs in one click.

Sorter — Sorts layers alphabetically or in reverse. Becomes essential when you are working with component variants or long lists of items that need to be in a specific order.

Content and Placeholder Data

Content Reel — Fills text layers with realistic placeholder content: names, addresses, emails, job titles, and more. Produces more useful design reviews than Lorem Ipsum.

UI Faces — Inserts diverse avatar photos into designs. Avoids the copyright issues of pulling photos from other sources for mockups.

Color and Accessibility

A11y - Color Contrast Checker — Checks contrast ratios against WCAG standards directly in Figma. Select text elements and run it to see which pass and which fail.

Color Blind — Simulates eight types of color vision deficiency on your current frame. Essential check before finalizing a palette or an interface that uses color to convey meaning.

Paletter 4 — Generates accessible color palettes from a base color. Produces tints, shades, and harmonious combinations.

Icons and Assets

Iconify — Access to over 150,000 icons from multiple icon sets directly in Figma. Supports Lucide, Material Icons, Heroicons, Phosphor, and many more.

Blush — Inserts and customizes illustrations from curated illustration sets. Adjust skin tones, colors, and poses without leaving Figma.

Spacing and Layout

Spacing — Visualizes spacing between elements. Useful when checking whether a layout actually follows the spacing scale or just looks like it does.

Grids Generator — Creates column grids, row grids, and baseline grids with precise settings. Faster than configuring manually.

Handoff and Export

Zeplin — Connects Figma files to Zeplin workspaces for developer handoff. If your team uses Zeplin, the plugin is essential.

LottieFiles — Preview and export Lottie animations from AE files directly inside Figma. The bridge between motion design and implementation.

One Note on Plugin Hygiene

Installed plugins run in a sandboxed environment but they do have access to your file contents. Be selective about which plugins you install for files containing client data or unreleased product work. Stick to plugins from established publishers.

A lean plugin set that you know well is more useful than a large collection you use inconsistently.
